I’ve seen a lot of talk over the years about calibers. Everyone has a favorite for various reasons. Personally, I don’t much care. I shoot a lot of 9mm because it’s economical, but I also have larger caliber guns such as my 10mm which fills a different role. However, what I normally see is people say that with a larger caliber gun (e.g. .40, .45, 10mm) you can not place accurate followup shots quickly. Well, this is simply untrue. Yes, the 9mm can be fired faster, but the difference is negligible in my opinion.

Hiring A Part Time Female Instructor

I’m looking for a female instructor to assist with classes on a part time basis. You should have a working vehicle capable of driving to ranges in the Southern California area. You must also be physically able to shoot and teach from different positions (supine, prone, kneeling, belly, side).

Minimum Qualifications

NRA Certified Pistol

NRA Certified RSO

Prior teaching experience(doesn’t have to be firearms)

Experience in a martial art

Compensation: DOE

All lubes are the same, right?

I had been testing Froglube for several months on most of my guns. The lubrication properties seemed sufficient enough for most of my guns, especially the loose tolerances on my Glocks. However, once I tried it on a match grade 1911 that’s when my problems started to develop. Not only did I have a FTF issue that went away when I went back to my grease lube, but I also had rust develop on the external extractor and the rear sight.

As much as I wanted to like Froglube, I can’t advocate it’s use at this time. For now I will be using my synthetic high temp brake caliper grease on my guns along with some Hoppes oil to keep rust away.

Summer Vacation!

Ahh, the hot months of Summer. With the lemonade and watermelon comes our vacation. Well, it’s not a true vacation, as we’ll still be working on content for our classes and so on. But we will not be doing any group classes during the months of July and August. There are many reasons for this, but mainly it’s to keep the classes pleasant, as running and gunning in 100F+ weather is never fun. We will still be offering private lessons at your local range.
